Knowing that I had a free weekend ahead of me, I started looking for places to visit that was about 50-100 miles away from where I live. I invited my best friend and we decided to explore Bodega Bay. We both have never been here before and was very excited to be in a new town. We also ended up driving on the Hwy 1 to Duncan’s Landing because driving on the coast is always so beautiful, and it was only 6.0 miles away from Bodega Bay. After our day trip to Sonoma County, here are the 5 places we went to and 5/5 would recommend to everyone! 🙂
1. Spud Point Crab Co.
Bodega Bay is known for their seafood. I regret not taking pictures here but I definitely wanted to share how our first stop went. We ordered the Seafood Sandwich, which had crab and shrimp in it, and the White Clam Chowder. We also wanted to try their Crab Cakes but sadly, it wasn’t available until 1:00 pm (we ordered around 11:00 am).
I thought their service was fast because our food was ready right after we paid. Since there’s no indoor seating, we brought our food outside to enjoy the view. Their food was amazing and we wanted to order more, but decided to save our appetite for other food places we’ll see along our way. Also, only porta potties are available here and no public restrooms nearby.
In case you’re interested in trying this place out, I linked their Yelp page above.
2. North Salmon Creek Beach
We started heading up north towards Hwy 1 to find other places to explore. We were definitely happy to find ourselves on a scenic drive by the coast. The first beach we found was only 2.4 miles away from Bodega Bay, called North Salmon Creek Beach. We found parking right away and made our trip down to the beach.
3. Carmet’s Beach
From North Salmon Creek Beach, we drove up 2.0 miles north and found another beach which had a lot of rocks at the bottom. I thought it was another beautiful location to stop by and take pictures. There was also a picnic table right next to the parking lot. This might be your stop if you’d like to go sightseeing but not make your way down to the beach.
4. Duncan’s Landing
We drove up 2.5 miles from Carmet’s Beach and ended up at Duncan’s Landing. There are so many beautiful flowers here and you can already enjoy the view from the parking lot. We didn’t make our way down to the beach this time because we ended up doing a photoshoot by the flowers instead. That was fun! 🙂
5. Fishetarian Fish Market
We weren’t sure if there are any restaurants close by if we were to drive further up north because our signal wasn’t strong here. So we started driving back down to Bodega Bay and decided to eat at the Fishetarian Fish Market. We ordered their crab cakes, dozen oysters, and poke tuna. If you like both french fries and sweet potato fries, ask them to do half and half when you order the crab cakes, or any of the items under their combos. We were able to get half and half! 🙂 After finishing our food, we ordered more poke tuna and tried their clam chowder. Everything was so delicious here. We will come back again next time! They do have indoor and outdoor seating here, and a bathroom in case you were wondering.
I hope I was able to help you plan your trip to Sonoma County next time you’re in Northern California. If you liked my post, give it a thumbs up, comment below, or subscribe to our page to get new updates! 🙂
